Military Families Can Score Free Event Tickets with VetTix

The VetTix program allows military families to get tickets to a wide variety of events for FREE and is a highly rated non-profit.
Let me introduce you to VetTix, one of the best-kept secrets for military families looking to make memories without stretching their budget. We’ve used VetTix for 7 plus events, and I’m constantly amazed it’s still free to sign up and use.
No matter your role in the military community, here’s everything you need to know about the Veteran Tickets Foundation, how to get started, and how our family has made the most of it.
What is VetTix?
VetTix, or the Veteran Tickets Foundation, is a nonprofit that provides free and discounted event tickets to veterans, active duty service members, and their families. Their mission is simple: to give back to those who serve by helping families create lasting memories through shared experiences.
Think concerts, pro sports games, monster truck rallies, Broadway shows, amusement parks, and even local comedy nights. If it requires a ticket, chances are it’s been on VetTix.
And yes—many of those tickets are completely free, aside from a small delivery fee (usually under $20 total, no matter how many tickets you grab). The tickets are donated by the shows, private donors or purchased thru the funds they’ve raised.

Who is Eligible for VetTix?
VetTix is open to:
- Active Duty Military
- Veterans (honorably discharged)
- National Guard and Reserves
- Immediate family of troops killed in action (Gold Star families)
To get started, you’ll need to create a free account and verify your service thru ID.me. This only takes a few minutes. Once you are verified, you’ll be ready to start using tickets. If you’re searching for free tickets for military families in 2025, this is the goldmine you’ve been looking for.
How to Score Free Event Tickets?
Using VetTix is easy. Here’s how it goes:
- Sign up on VetTix.org
- Verify your military service
- Browse events by state, category, or date
- Request tickets
- Pay a small delivery fee (usually $6–$20 total)
- Enjoy the event with your family or fellow service members!
You’ll earn VetTix loyalty points, or “coins,” just for signing up, sharing testimonials, and referring friends—which help you get priority access for high-demand tickets.
We’ve used VetTix to see:
- A Seattle Mariners game during a TDY
- Monster Jam for the boys
- Michael’s favorite band/very first concert
I can honestly say, VetTix has helped us reconnect as a family—especially after long stretches of separation.
VetTix primarily distributes tickets through two methods: lottery-style entries and first-come, first-served (FCFS). During the lottery phase, you place a bid using your virtual “coins”—each coin equals one chance to win tickets. You can wager as few as 1 coin or up to the maximum shown. If you’re selected, you’ll be notified and can claim your tickets. If you don’t win, your coins are refunded. Once the lottery closes, any remaining tickets move to FCFS. The most popular tickets start as lottery but the FCFS go fast, so turn on your notifications.

VetTix FAQs for Military Families
Can Military Spouses Have Their Own VetTix Account?
Not usually. VetTix accounts must be registered under the service member’s name. However, Gold Star family members and spouses of fallen service members may qualify for their own account.
For active duty and veteran families, the service member (SM) is the one who signs up and verifies their service, but the account can still be used by the family, including spouses, as long as the rules of use are followed.
Does the Service Member Have to Be Present to Use the Tickets?
It depends. Obviously the program is designed for the Veteran or Servicemember to be able to spend quality time with family or friends. However, there are many tickets that will allow Spouses or kids to attend without the SM. This can be so helpful during separations. Just be sure to read the event rules to make sure. Some occasions require tickets to be picked up with an ID. Many just go to your email.
Is There a Cost to Join VetTix?
No! Signing up is completely free, and there’s no annual membership fee. You’ll just pay a small delivery fee for any tickets you receive—usually under $20.
What Kind of Events Are Available?
VetTix has a huge variety of ticket types, including:
- Concerts (country, pop, rock, rap, and more)
- Professional sports (MLB, NFL, NHL, NBA)
- Monster truck and motorsports
- Family shows (Disney on Ice, Bluey Live, etc.)
- Comedy shows and theater
The best part? New tickets are added all the time, so it pays to check back often or set up event alerts. If you’re looking for tickets to theme parks check out the Waves of Honor Program.
How Long Does It Take to Get Verified on VetTix?
Most accounts are verified within a few days at most. The process is even better now that they are using ID.me.
What is the Hero’s Wish Program?
The Hero’s Wish program is a special VetTix initiative that helps create once-in-a-lifetime experiences for service members who are currently deployed, recovering from combat injuries, or facing severe hardships. Through this program, eligible military members (or their families) can request a specific event like the Super Bowl, a dream concert, or a major league game. Then VetTix works to make it happen through donations and sponsorships. These wishes can be granted by private donors or funds that are raised. It’s a heartfelt reminder that military sacrifice doesn’t go unnoticed. You can only place one Hero’s Wish.
